Only select delegations are allowed to even visit the Yangshan Deep Water Port connected by the Donghai bridge (the 2nd longest bridge in the world at 33 km or 20 mi long, the longest bridgeis also in China in Hangzhou). It is simply amazing to drive for nearly half an hour on a bridge that is standing over 15 m of water the entire way. Simply amazing. I think at this moment I felt China was so much greater than I thought it was. The port is simply available for rent by shipping companies who use the port to service their customers. The port is very high tech, but does not employ RFID yet. They do track expensive cargo with GPS tracking modules. The tracking is automated through computer systems. Although employees are not allowed to stay on site in the dormitories, there are temporary housing arrangements in case you find yourself overnight on this port. The scale of Chinese operations is always something astounding to watch, as evidenced by the Yangshan Deep Water Port.
